Good afternoon Alcott School Community,
It’s been a week. But in reflection, we have done amazing work for each other as at team, for our students and for our families. Your patience and collaboration as families is valued. Thank you for supporting our team.
The Alcott PTA Book Fair is coming up the week of November 8th through 12th, except for Thursday, November 11th. Look for the flyer coming home on Monday with all the information. Proceeds from the Book Fair support Alcott students, teachers, and the library. This can be an opportunity to purchase holiday gifts and support Alcott as well. If you would like to volunteer to help during the book fair, please contact Maru in the office.
Next Tuesday, November 2 at 6:00 p.m. I will be hosting a parent/family meeting on zoom.
- I will be discussing our 2-month review and conducting our required needs assessment. This is a critical piece that allows you (our) stakeholders to outline areas we need to prioritize.
- Be sure to visit our website for information and pictures that I am placing to showcase our amazing team. Our new learning garden and nutrition class is an example of true and authentic learning opportunities. Great to see our kids actively engaged in our outdoor classroom. Pics on instagram (principalslewis) and Twitter (@MrLewisSD) and linked on our website.
- As we focus on the social emotional needs of our students, staff, and community, I am working with our school psychologist, Ms. Worley and our school counselor, Ms. Campbell in creating systems that support our school-wide focus around Filling Buckets and taking responsibility as Leaders and Scholars. As we onboard parent volunteers, visiting teachers, and High School interns, we recognize the need for clear and consistent expectations (from hallways and bathrooms to blacktop games, we must all speak a common language around what it means to be an Alcott Owl.
- If you are interested in counseling supports for your child or need resources for yourself and/or family, check out our Couseling/Wellness Corner on the website.
- Enjoy your weekend. Principal Lewis
