Good afternoon Alcott School Community,
Get ready to set your clocks back this weekend and take advantage of that “extra” hour of rest.
Our focus and commitment to the well-being and mental health of our students, staff, and families is an Alcott priority. Be sure to check out our website and the new (Counseling and Wellness Corner). Our school counselor, Ms. Campbell and our school psychologist, Ms. Worley, have placed their pictures and “bios” in our newly created website “corner” that allows you to access resources and connect directly to our support team here at Alcott. This resource will be updated weekly with messages and links that are aimed to assist our school community.
I had the opportunity to tour our Area Superintendent on Wednesday here at Alcott and Mr. Elizondo was impressed at our efforts to support our infant/toddler through elementary school students and families. Showcasing who we are remains a priority of mine.
Conference Week is almost here!!! All TK-5th grade students will be on minimum day schedule for our first conference week of the year (November 15-19). The Home/School Connection is one of the single most important goals I have for our school community. We are educators who are here for you and your students. Teachers will be outlining your child’s strengths and discussing any focus areas necessary to support all students. You are the important stakeholders in our growth as educators here at Alcott and I am asking families to stay engage and ensure your voice is heard. A parent/family-Teacher Conference should not simply be us “talking to you”. It must be a genuine partnership where we work together on behalf of your child. You will be receiving invites directly from your teachers on your conference day and time; however, if the time or day doesn’t work for your schedule, we will be flexible.
Lost and Found: Be sure to check our lost and found for any items left behind by students. All items will be separated into bags and labeled for donation after 2 weeks (if not picked up).
Shortened week: Next Thursday is Veterans Day, and all schools will be closed. SDUSD will be voting for additional school closure day on Friday. We will have the final decision on Tuesday evening. Be sure to set up childcare and take advantage of this opportunity to be with family and friends.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Principal Lewis
