Good afternoon Alcott School Community,
What a remarkable first week of school. It was a monumental week for our entire staff, our families and students. We reopened our school after over 380 days and we did it with new health and safety protocols, high levels of anxiety, and a remarkable positive attitude. I am very proud of our staff, students and our families. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this historic reopening.
- Week 1 Observations and reminders for Week 2:
- Safety protocols: The safety of our staff, students, and families/guardians is our priority. All students are completing the daily symptom checklist before entering the main campus. If your child is participating on-site, be sure to have your daily checklist ready each day. Continue to ensure your child has their mask. We will have extras in the office.
- Ventilation: Air purifiers and air circulation are in place for all classrooms.
- Social Distancing: We are ensuring proper social distancing both in class, on the yard and during lunch breaks.
- Dismissal has greatly improved. All teachers will continue to walk students to the dismissal area to ensure the safety of your children.
- COVID-19 Testing: Our mandatory staff COVID testing is underway and will continue for the remainder of this school year. All staff members are tested every 2 weeks.
- Students have transitioned back nicely. Seeing students on campus has been far more emotional than we anticipated. We are educators because we care about kids, relationships, and the well-being of our entire student body. Hearing laughter again has made my week.
