Good afternoon Alcott School Community,
As we prepare for our final weeks of school, I am recognizing just how great our school is and fortunate I am to be part of your team. We have successfully returned our staff and students back to campus after over a year off due to COVID-19 and we have done it with the help and patience of you, our families. UBUNTU is alive at Alcott (Team matters)!
KUDOS to our PTA. Be sure to open the below link for their Spring Newsletter and don't forget to join our PTA today!
The SAGE Garden Grant was recently awarded to Alcott and I am looking forward to seeing this amazing program coming to our school in the fall. Our students will be actively engaged in true outdoor learning opportunities. More to come.
I am looking forward to a new program coming to Alcott in the fall. Our school counselor, Ms. Kanzler, will be leading our No Place for Hate program that is going to set the stage for our positive school culture as we enter the 2021-22 school year.
Ms. Bennett is preparing for 5th Grade Promotion and we want to celebrate our 5th graders that have missed their school year due to COVID. Be sure to follow our website news for the end of the year activities and join me in celebrating our 5th graders as they prepare for Middle School.
HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDELINES: CDC Announcement and Masks
- With all the recent news from the CDC, I felt it was important to update on our current health and safety guidelines.
- Our current guidelines at schools and district sites are in place and not changing.
- Mask wearing, distancing and all other health and safety measures need to remain in place until the end of the school year.
- Masks must be always worn on campus.
- We follow guidelines from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). As that guidance is updated, we will evaluate revisions.
I understand how frustrating it can be during these difficult times; however, we are very close to easing restrictions…we are almost there!
VACCINE STATUS AND PRIVACY CLARITY: Staff and Students
- Vaccines for staff and students are optional; only appropriate staff may ask a staff member or a student about their vaccine status i.e., health office staff or administrator while supporting contact tracing with a positive student or staff member.
EXTRA GROCERY FOOD DISTRIBUTION FOR 5/17-5/21
- Extra grocery items will be available (while supplies last) at our 19 curbside meal locations on a rotating basis. Grocery giveaway days range from Food Bank Food Drives, USDA meal boxes, and fresh produce.
- Grocery Item Schedule for Week of 5/17-5/21
Have a great weekend.
