3/18/22 Friday Update

Good afternoon Alcott School Community,
A special Kudos to our elementary teacher team for allowing me to cover their classrooms on Tuesday to allow our district math team to meet and hear directly from our teachers regarding how we can improve our math pilot year.  Our voice is being used to modify and improve future math adoptions!  Your students are benefiting from this collaboration!
This week’s Pizza with the Principal will feature leaders and scholars from Ms. Graham, Ms. Summers, Ms. Brakespear
Alcott Open House:  California Schools have been closed to parents for 2 years!  I am excited to announce that this year’s Open House is set for May 19th from 5:00-6:00.  We are going to celebrate.  Food, fun, and smiles.  Let’s welcome our families back to school in a big way.  We are a school that values relationships and the home/school connection and we are ready to welcome you on campus soon.
Women’s History Month:  As we enter the final weeks of March, we are honoring women and teaching our students that the contributions of women in our society matter.
Class Meeting update:  Our classroom focus on providing a weekly opportunity for our students to use “I statements” and focus on conflict resolution will continue to be our main concern as we finish off this school year.  We are noticing behaviors that demonstrate that our students require this structure from the safe adults on our campus.  School closures resulted in student isolation for over 2 years and our efforts to reteach and set a safe culture (where students are empowered to use their voice) is making a difference.
This week’s Feeling Word of the Week (FWOW) is CREATIVE. Make this part of your "family time" discussions.
Conference Week:  minimum day schedule Grades TK-5 (Wednesday-Friday).  Preschool and Infant/toddler programs will not be affected.
KUDOS to our Alcott Staff and families:  I am noticing more smiling, laughing, and supporting each other.  That fills my bucket:  UBUNTU
Enjoy your weekend.
Relax, Be Kind, Be a Bucket Filler!
