Alcott School Counselor

 

My name is Renee Reinhardt I am the School Counselor at Alcott Elementary.  I am excited to work with your children and you. 

San Diego Native here.  In my free time I love spending time with my 9-year-old orange tabby cat named willow, singing karaoke, going to the beach, playing card and board games with friends and family.   I graduated from San Diego State in 2006 and majored in Spanish.  Si hablo EspaƱol.  I graduated in 2010 at National University in a Master of Science in Educational Counseling.  I have worked in La Mesa-Spring Valley School District starting in 2007 and have worked in San Diego Unified since 2015.   My passion is helping students with emotional/social issues.   I love seeing students grow academically, emotionally, and socially. 

Some of the things I do as a School Counselor is

Academic Support

  • Student Study Team (SST) for those students who are struggling academically or behaviorally
  • 504 Plan for those students who have a medical diagnosis and need extra support at school

Social Emotional Support

  • Classroom lessons
  • Small groups and Individual Counseling

Creative Counselor Club

  •  I also organize and supervise the Creative Counselor Club focus on Art, Kinetic Sand, Board games and Legos on Tuesday and Thursday during lunch recess for grades 1-5.  


Reasons to see the counselor

  • Worried about something (school, family, work
  • Want help making choices or solving a problem
  • Child is having problems developing friends
  • Any big life changes
  • Someone is hurting your child
  • Your child is feeling like hurting him or herself and others

Confidentiality

  • Everything a student says in the counseling office is confidential UNLESS:
  • Someone is hurting the student
  • The student wants to hurt someone else
  • The student wants to hurt self
