4/23/21 Friday Update

Good afternoon Alcott School Community,
Our second week is in the books and it proved to be fantastic.  I want to thank our entire staff, students and community for making this a great return to school.  It's wonderful to be with students again.
Messages from Mr. Lewis
  • Our staff is committed to creating the conditions for learning that will foster tomorrow's Leaders and Scholars.  In an effort to continue to make all kids a priority and address many of the challenges today's youth are faced with around hate and division, our staff will be looking closely at how we can educate differently so children learn to appreciate the individual differences that make this country unique.  We have a responsibility to our students and families and I look forward to outlining more of our plan at future parent/guardian meetings.
  • You may have noticed some dogs this week off leash during student pickup.  Please be sure you leave your dogs at home during pickup or have them on a leash and remain on the sidewalk until your student is dismissed.   I too love dogs but we will need to enforce this rule to ensure the safety of our staff and students.
SUMMER SCHOOL IS OPEN.  REFER TO THE DISTRICT WEBSITE FOR DETAILS.
EXTRA GROCERY FOOD DISTRIBUTION FOR 4/26-4/30
  • Extra grocery items will be available (while supplies last) at our 19 curbside meal locations on a rotating basis. Grocery giveaway days range from Food Bank Food Drives, USDA meal boxes, and fresh produce bags.
  • Grocery Item Schedule for Week of 4/26-4/30
Our COVID protocols have proven to be effective and I thank you for ensuring your students continue to arrive with the symptom checklist and masks each day.  Our kids and staff are healthy and that is something we can celebrate!

Have a great weekend.
